Sometimes you have to just jump into a project feet first. You have to ignore the fact that you don’t feel like doing it because that’s often when you need to do it the most! If you need to get yourself moving by checking out someone else’s ideas for inspiration, we always recommend Tina’s work. She’s one of the LBD Kit Club Designers that always has something new and simply fun up her sleeve.

Here’s Tina Walker’s Jump 12×12 Layout using the Devious Darling Kit from Little Black Dress Kit Club. This was the monthly scrapbook kit that went out to members in December 2011.

Oooh. I just love the buttons with the added stitching that makes them look like they’re hanging from string. I love the stitched in brackets and I love the bow over the top of the entire layered portion of the layout.

I know, I know, you need a closeup! I do, too. Check out the stitching, the layering, the varying sizes of the layered elements and the white painted background. What a great combination.

Tina always comes through. This layout made me want to go out and get a photo of my little people jumping in puddles. (Alright, alright…it also made me want to go out and do some puddle jumping of my own, but that’s alright! That just means it’s totally inspiring). Tina’s done her job.

You are so devious, darling! You’ve been sneaking around doing all sorts of good deeds for others this holiday season. You’re finding the perfect gift for all your loved ones. You’re making cookies for people you don’t know and sometimes for people you don’t even like. You’ve been searching or random acts of kindness that could brighten someone’s day. Stop everything! It’s time for a break. Take a moment and put together a project that is just for you. Here’s some inspiration from LBD Kit Club Designer, Tina.

The Winds of Change 12×12 Layout by Tina

First off, what an amazing photo. It’s gorgeous. Secondly, WOW, Tina! When you go about inspiring the masses…you really inspire the masses. What do we love? It’s hard to point out a few when the entire combination is so gorgeous. We love the stitches over the letters. We love the big/small alpha combo. We love the cut out of the yellow paper behind the teal letters. We love the casually torn and added strings of birds under the photo. We love the butterflies. What’s our favorite? The LAYERING, baby. This layout is all about the layering. And Tina went all out in pulling out bits and pieces from her December Devious Darling scrapbook kit to put together a fantastic combination of contrasting yet complimentary elements.

Thanks so much for sharing your take on the Winds of Change with us, Tina. We truly appreciate all your hard work and look forward for more projects to come!

I HEART you! We actually heart all our Little Black Dress Kit Club members. And just to show our love and appreciation…we’re going to share a secret with you. Scrapbooking is all about you! Take a moment and make a page that doesn’t look like your sister’s, your neighbor’s, your favorite designer’s or even your mom’s. Make a page that is all about you. Make it look like you. When people pick it up, they should think of you. That’s the scrapbook challenge we’re offering! Let’s see what you make of it. And as a little bit of yummy loveliness, check out Tina’s i HEART u 12×12 layout using the Little Black Dress Kit Club September Kit.

Awh. Love Tina! And love this layout! From my view of Tina…she “hearts” a lot. She seems to be a lady overflowing with good stuff to share with everyone around her. Love that about her and love that it always shows in her layouts.

Notice the fun accordion style flower with the golden rhinestone embellishment here. And love the heart cutout with all the 3D effects that you can see below.

Want to do a page with lots of “popped” elements, but not sure how well it will last? Take a note out of Tina’s notebook and use some stitching to secure it to the page while adding one more element pointing towards your focal point.

I love all the detail that Tina includes in her pages. This one is particularly fun because the extremely detailed pattern of her background paper makes for a fabulous basis for all the littles added here and there throughout.

I need a good road trip! My moaning and complaining really have nothing to do with you or the scrapbooking that we normally discuss here on the Little Black Dress Kit Club blog, except for the fact that I love documenting road trips with pics from the road. And I love how Tina Walker, LBD Kit Club Design Team member, used some pics from the road to document in her layout titled Santa Cruz:

This layout was created using the August kit from Little Black Dress Club: Shades of Blue. Don’t you just love the teeny Glitz Design alphas? And the way that Tina used the “barcode/title” strip from one of your October Afternoon papers? And the Jenni Bowlin Grow Card? I particularly love the layout of the elements on the page and how it leaves the background page as a main focal point on the layout. Also notice the use of the distress stamp in the background of the back page to the right of the photos. In the August Kit you’ll find your own Jenni Bowlin acrylic distress stamp. We love them. They’re far more versatile than they at first appear. We know scrappers who have the most extensive acrylic stamp collections and we know scrappers who like to stick to a few really versatile stamps. That’s your call!

Here are some closeups for your viewing pleasure:

Love LoVe LOVE the way that Tina finished off this layering with a banner stitched across the top. Such a great combination of colors; loving the dark blue with the lighter distressed blue of the center banner on top. Yum.

Lovely, fun photos! I’m going to have to remember that the next time I have a good road trip that I can take this kind of photo that incorporates a lot of “location.” These catch so much of the flavor of the spot. I vow to get better at that!

Watch for more projects from LBD Designers…coming soon!

Items used for layout not included in the August Shades of Blue Kit: SC alphas – from previous LBD kit, Red background paper on left edge – non LBD and Stamp/embossing powder – non LBD.

Quick and Easy Photo Art

This is a quick, easy, and super fun way to display your awesome family photos.  Instead of putting everything behind glass, or creating a scrapbooking layout, with a few quick steps you can take the ordinary, and make it extraordinary.

Step 1

Get any size frame you want, and cut a piece of scrapbook paper the size of the picture opening.

For my example, the frame was 10in X 10in, and the opening was 5in X 5in.  Therefore, I cut my paper slightly larger than the 5×5 opening.

Step 2

Next, we will create the rolled paper embellishment that sits on the outside of the frame.

Cut strips of patterned paper in the desired width and length.  My strips were approx. 2-2/14 in. wide by 2 in long.  The wider the strip, the wider the rolled paper embellishment, and the longer the strip, the wider (in diameter) of each roll.

Roll each strip and glue closed.

Step3

To create stability to the rolled paper embellishment, cut a piece of heavy cardstock or chipboard in a strip smaller than your rolled papers.  Glue each rolled paper to the chipboard strip.

Step4

Tie a piece of twine several times around the entire rolled paper embellishment and tie in a bow in front.

Slide photo behind the twine and glue to rolled paper embellishment.

Step5

Glue a heart/flower/decorative embellishment to a larger heart/flower/decorative embellishment, and add stick pin.

Step 6

Glue decorative embellishment to the front of the photo.

Add a strip of patterned paper to bottom of rolled paper embellishment and glue.

 Step 7

Glue rolled paper embellishment (with attached photo, decorative embellishment, and strip of patterned paper) to front of frame glass.

Step 8

Enjoy
