Today’s featured 12×12 layout is by Stephanie Bryan. It’s called When I Close My Eyes. This scrapbook layout needed to be featured because it is a fantastic example of using white on white (it can pack quite a punch) as well as using your own personal touches on your scrapbooking projects to create a solid basis for the project (we adore her use of her own handwriting in the background matte). Check it out…and don’t forget to study the closeups, too!

Also make sure to check out: the use of the button as the “o” in the title, the way she left the sides of the chevrons loose with the middle stitched to add dimension, the complimentary photos overlapping, the Maggie Holmes clothespin (for decorative purposes only), the tiny bit of paint splatter to break up the white.

It’s always a Happy Day when we see a new project from Stephanie. I love how clean and gorgeous her projects are. Look for more on the LBD Facebook photos page or in the archives here on the LBD Kit Club blog.

If you have an Uncle like mine then you know that they’re simply the best. So it’s not surprising when they crop up in some pretty great moments in our lives. And since those are the moments that we like to remember…they crop up in the scrapbooking albums frequently as well!

Check out the Uncle 12×12 Layout by Valerie O’Neall:

What do I love most about this layout Valerie put together? It’s hard to say because she always creates something that is well worth loving (and looking at again and again, over and over). Here are a few things we think should definitely be taken into account by anyone checking out Valerie’s latest 12×12 layout:

the patterned stitching (same color as the background page, but offering a great basis for well placed journaling, etc.)

the colorful paint splatters

the Freckled Fawn wood embellishment cartoon bubble

the combo pattern circle matte and embellishments (love that she mixed the patterned paper together)

the pen sketches/doodles as borders around the circles

I adore happy faces, don’t you? I also adore little kids’ depictions of the people that they love. Why not take a page from LBD Kit Club’s April 2013 guest designer, Tara Anderson, and create a mini album to feature the adorable sketches of the little people in your life? It’s a fabulous idea. We adore it. We know you will, too!

The Happy Faces Mini Album by Tara Anderson…ER…Chase, Age 4. :D

Tell me you don’t adore that. I won’t believe you if you follow through on that request. This is a fabulous method of documenting a child’s perceptive of your family or a gift for someone who loves the little one as much as you.

Let’s flip through and see the happy faces documented here in this fabulous mini album for all time:

Always give credit where credit is due…love that Tara noted that the artwork was “by: Chase, Age 4″ right on the cover of this mini album. TA_happyFaces3_apr13

Next time you’ve got Happy Faces…put them all in one place and keep them forever with a Happy Faces mini album. It will make you smile every time you look at it.

Supplies used to create this project came from the April 2013, Don’t Worry Be Happy scrapbook kit from LBD Kit Club. Supplies used that were not included in the kit: carnival ticket, binder ring.

My name is Brittany, I am a 20-something year old crafer. I enjoy all styles and techniques!

I love trying new things and I hope to bring you inspiration with my projects!
The rest of the Little Black Dress Kit Club Design Team and all of us here at LBD are so excited to work with Brittany. She’s got some amazing projects and crafting inspiration coming your way…just you wait and see!

We know you always love the scrapbook projects sent in by Jenni Calma. We do, too! This is one of her latest using the March 2013 scrapbook kit, A Chance for Luck:

LOVED 12×12 Layout by Jenni Calma:

Things we love about this layout include: the wood grain embellishments, the juxtaposition of the photos, the vellum text as matte behind the photos, the use of ephemera from the scrapbook kit in layering, the block of color in the center, how the wood grain of the embellishments echo the wood grain of the scrapbook paper, and the use of cut out corrugated cardboard hearts stitched on as accents. Of course, there are many more little details to discover…so check out the closeups.

Love the antiqued edges of the tags and its use for journaling here as well as the use of the vintage rations stamps on the edge of the tag!

Here you can see the great addition that stitching can add to your layout. Also notice the addition of a bit of color to reflect that block in the middle (teeny staples…do you have a tiny stapling tool? They’re very handy).

Always check back for more projects from Jenni and the other girls on the design team!
