Project Life! You can’t turn a corner in the scrapbooking industry without hearing all about it. Except that if you haven’t actually delved in, you may be just nodding your head and smiling when the topic comes up and wondering…WHY PROJECT LIFE? Get the nitty, gritty details and see some examples from some of the Little Black Dress Kit Club design team members today. And you can stop acting like your favorite aunt who refuses to admit that she can’t hear as well as she used to the next time the subject comes up. Instead you’ll actually be able to jump in with your own opinion and support of this new scrapbooking method!

Why Project Life? To get you the good stuff we checked out the info provided by the creator of the popular new scrapbooking method (Becky Higgins). Here’s the gist of what she had to say about the new scrapbooking craze!

“Project Life is a back-to-basics approach to memory-keeping. This system is so simple, that it’s revolutionary,” Becky Higgins said.

The most popular reasons behind the instantaneous LOVE of Project Life amongst scrapbookers everywhere are:

  • Less Stress
  • Less Time Invested in Individual Projects
  • New Skills to Learn and Enjoy
  • Less Guilt
  • More Value
  • Cheap Therapy

Need more info? Read on…and then, check out Project Life projects from the LBD design team members! You’ll love it! And it will get you inspired to get your own Project Life moving!

Most see Project Life as a scrapbooking solution. It makes the process more simple and lets scrapbookers and memory keepers have more time to spend making memories rather than devoting every last second to preserving the ones already captured digitally. There’s no glue, scissors, tools, or fancy crafting skills necessary. (Can you say, Ahhhhh). This is not only a great decrease in stress levels for beginners and veteran scrapbookers alike, but it’s a money saver. How many of you have ever added up how much you’ve spent purchasing glue and adhesives throughout a busy scrapbooking year? (I don’t actually recommend doing it. It’s oddly disturbing. That was simply rhetorical. Just know that you don’t want to know).

The benefits of Project Life scrapbooking come from the design of the products. They take the guess work out of the layout design. Scrapbookers get to focus on recording their special moments with photos and journaling. It’s a new method that’s bringing us full circle; back to the beginning where it all began. That said, the design is trendy and styling. It means the opportunity to create more pages in less time.

The creator of Project Life was obviously inspired by her personal life. She’s a busy mom and wife who has been heavily involved in scrapbooking and knows the amount of time required for dedication in this particular industry. She named it Project Life because it’s designed to be all about LIFE. And not just any life, but YOUR LIFE. It’s whatever you need it to be; because everyone’s life is going to be different; different people, different memories, different life stages, different circumstances, different lifestyles, etc. Regardless of who, when or where you are…Project Life makes it easier to get your photos, journaling and memories…into a book!

Consider trying it if you haven’t yet…it’s said to be the best way to stop connecting scrapbooking with the guilt on never getting it all done! It gives you freedom. And once you’re at that moment when you feel more free than guilty…you’ll be able to see just how creative and fabulous you can be! It can be as simple or as intensely crazy creative as you want; depending on your mood and your time requirements! That’s why so many people love it.

That said…there are plenty of Project Life products out there as well as products by varying designers that coordinate and fulfill Project Life requirements. The method is taking over the world…once you’ve got the hang of it, you’ll see just how versatile it can be!

Love the color combos here, love the banner tags as layering, love the ephemera used as journaling spot, love the lovely subtle colors against the gray patterned scrapbook paper of the background, love the trim along the edges of the photos, love the initial stamps, and love the corrugated cardboard incorporated on the side.

You can see another one of the wood grain embellishments here. Love the combination of trims she used behind the cluster there in the top left corner of the photo as well.

Thanks for sharing some of your “wonder” with us, Jamie!

We all love a little bit of horseplay…and Alyssa McGrew managed to perfectly portray that fantastical bit of horseplay that we all love to indulge in now and then here on one of her March 2013 scrapbook layout submissions. Horseplay can come in many shapes and forms, but when there’s a carousel horse in the picture (literally or figuratively) it’s almost guaranteed that there’d be a bit of “horseplay” in the mix. Check out the fun…more scrapbook layout details below.

Just horsin’ around, but if that’s just horsin’ around then Alyssa has some magic hands because it came together for an amazing final project! Things we love about this layout include: the chevron pattern added to the background scrapbook paper in gray, the LAYERING (all caps because it’s just worth the extra noise) and the seemingly nonchalant placement that just could not have been accidental! Love it, Alyssa. Love it!

Jenni Calma, LBD Kit Club designer, created this 12×12 layout using her January 2013 scrapbook kit. We called it the Every Little Piece Kit because every little piece matters. The LBD Kit Club design team sent in many amazing projects and layouts and you can find them dispersed throughout the various online social media outlets here at Little Black Dress Kit Club: Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter, Flickr, Instagram, and here on the blog, of course! But today…we’re talking about the Smoochy 12×12 layout!

Little Black Dress Design Team member, Ginger, submitted the Good Things 12×12 Layout. She used the Sweet Bravery Kit for January to compile this delectable layout. Check it out!

Ginger created some amaazing flowers out of pink houndstooth tissue paper strips and the vintage book page strips. The teeny extras included in the vintage embellishment packets each month will usually provide the perfect “center” for any flower. You’ll also notice that Ginger incorporated journaling in white on black cardstock. You have to appreciate the block of dark that accents the black and white photo.

And of course…you can’t miss just how gorgeous the Inspiration Card is (GCD studios Melody Ross Homespun Chic collection).

What’s your favorite part of this Sweet Bravery layout?
