Clowning around is the most fun. And nobody is better at clowning around than kids. And no one is better at appreciating that clowing around (even if they’re trying to pretent not to) than Mom. There’s something just happy-making about seeing your own kids clowing around together. It could simply be the fact that they aren’t bickering over whose turn it is to sit up front in the car, but regardless…it’s a good moment. And if it’s worth enjoying in the moment then it’s worth documenting for future enjoyment at any point in time whatsoever! So document away, scrappers, document away!

Here’s a scrapbook layout idea for ya’…Leslie Ashe’s My 2 Clowns 12×12 Layout:

My favorite parts of the page? Where to start…I love the torn spiral edging. I love the handwritten journaling following the edge of the apge. I love the banner style white/hot pink ribbon under the picture. I love the smattering of embellishments in the top left (buttons, stamps, etc) and I love the layering behind the photo. I love that Leslie’s layering involved so many different elements: ribbon, vintage book page, cardstock stickers, Glitz Design what nots, twine, October Afternoon alphas and more. And, of course, I love the 2 clowns! What a great photo!

Have a great layout of YOUR clowns? Post it on Facebook. We wanna see!

True Love is one of those concepts that is not only universal, but it’s timeless. So there’s always room for one more True Love layout. Whether you’re chronicling your own true love, that of a child, a sibling, a parent, or…a great, great, great, great ancestor…as is the case here with this special layout from Jan.

Jan used her Contrary Bliss June kit to put together this amazing 12×12 layout. It’s gorgeous. And it has an amazing story.

Here’s the story behind this layout…straight from Jan:

“I was researching my husband’s family on Ancestory.com a couple of months ago and I received an email from a lady in Wales who noticed we had the same relatives in common.  It turns out her husband’s mother is my husband’s grandfather’s sister.(Confused yet?!)  Anyways, she let me look at her family tree and photos, which was amazing, it went into the 1700′s.  Among her photos, was this one, a photo of my husband’s grandparents shortly after they were married.  I gave this photo to my mother-in-law who had never seen it before, she was thrilled!  You see, her father died when she was eight years old and she doesn’t have very many photos of him, so she was so excited to see this one and a few of him when he was a boy.  This photo prompted her to pull out a box of papers from her attic that has never been opened since her mother passed away.  Inside was a scrapbooker’s treasure!  Her mother had kept every letter she received from home (Wales) when they immigrated to Canada, cards and notes that her children, husband, and herself had given each other, documents, etc.  It made me realize that preserving these memories or saving those little bits of memorabilia are worth it!  My mother-in-law did not know her mom had kept all those letters and cards, so it was wonderful for her to see cards and letters that her father had written.  So, that’s my little story behind this photo!”

This makes me want to get on the ball and figure out some of my own family history. It also makes me want to take advantage of the documents and pictures that I do have to commemorate the history and the numerous instances of “true love” that make me…well…me! We’ve all heard that saying “All because two people fell in love” and that ‘s what I think of when I look at this layout. Except that this proves that it’s more than that. We’re a part of an ever growing chain. And it’s so fantastic to see a visual presentation of one piece of that lovely chain, don’t you think?

What sort of projects have you put together to “show off” your family history documention or photos?

Isn’t that an amazing picture? I love it! In fact, I’ve got “nothing but love” for it! This is a 12×12 layout sent in my LBD Design Team Member, Amy Heller. I olove her layering and the way she mixed the light and dark elements from the kit.

Check out the closeups:

I love how Amy used different layers of the same polka dot paper to create depth along the bottom of the page (you can see how the top strip is raised).

Love this little cluster of butterflies on which the adorable little girl cut out rests. It’s such a great combination.

Here you can see a bit of the teeny alphas, a strip of fabulous trim, the fabric flowers that are such a hit with subscribers this month and, of course, some great vintage wooden bingo numbers that add a great touch to the look of many layouts.

In this closeup you can see how Amy adds little touches to finish off her layouts like embroidery thread/twine threaded through vintage buttons, etc.

Wanna see more layouts? Well…you will, you will. More will be headed your way shortly. And don’t forget to keep your eyes open for information on upcoming giveaways and contests. Post one of your latest Little Black Dress kit club projects on the LBD wall and you just might win the Betsey Johnson bracelet that’s up for grabs! It’s utterly gorgeous! If I didn’t think I’d get in trouble I just might try to keep it for myself!

Just another fabulous 12×12 layut by Ginger John. This layout was created using the Patterns of Class February kit from Little Black Dress Kit Club. She calls it Love UR Face.

The base paper for this 12×12 layout is the ink resistant paper from Pink Paislee from the kit. Ginger used her Tim Holtz distressing tool with distress ink to make the most of the ink resistant design on the paper (you can see how the paper accepts the ink around the edges EXCEPT in the spots where the design refused to accept the ink). It looks fabulous. She also used a few different papers from the kit for photo mats, the Notions vintage pattern flowers, buttons from the vintage miscellaneous grouping in the kit, the birdies rubons from Studio Calico and the lovely wood grain alphas.

Here’s a closeup of the layout of the photos and the various flowers. The pinwheel flowers alongside the Notions vintage pattern flowers were created using papers from the LBD kit. The two smaller pictures on the page are actually one 4×6 photo cut in half. It’s a great little effect that will work in many instances. You should try it!

We’ve had a few requests for a spot online where LBD kit club members and not-quite members, but wish they were  members can post projects to share. So we’ve set it up. All you have to do it be a fan of Little Black Dress Kit Club on Facebook and you can post your projects directly to the wall to share with other Little Black Dress Kit Club lovers. :)

Now…general online etiquette applies here. We’ve got a g-rated site going on and we don’t want to have to kick off any underage users so no R rated photos or projects. Does that go without saying? Regardless…we reserve the right to remove wall posts if they aren’t appropriate. :D Said with a HUGE smile cuz we love ya’ll and know it won’t be a problem.

So…did you do it yet? We wanna see some more projects. We share with you all the time. We’re getting kinda tired of this one sided relationship. Nah, we’re just teasing you. But we do want to see what you come up with using the different Little Black Dress kits. Should be fun.
