Suz has done it again. She always sneaks great ideas in before we’ve even realized there’s a design genius on the design team. Just kidding. We already knew Suz was a design genius. But it was a clever segue into one of her amazing projects using the February 2013 scrapbook kit this month. Check it out! I adore it! I might have to throw that Mystery Party my daughter has been requesting just so I can create a page with a similar idea.

Master Sleuth 12×12 Layout by Suz Mannecke:

Perfection, isn’t it? I love the the iconic focus of the page. She’s got all the universal symbols of a mystery: footprints, men in tuxes with canes and questions, crime notes, a magnifying glass…what a great project.

Suz put this 12×12 layout together using Little Black Dress’s February 2013 kit, A Trim in Time. Check out the closeups:

It’s the EVERYDAY stuff that matters most, isn’t it? And too often we overlook all the everyday good stuff because we’re too busy focusing on big events coming up or stressing about things that are too come or worrying that something will happen to disrupt our day or our life in general. This is a reminder from LBD Kit Club designer, Ginger John, to focus on the EVERYDAY! It’s not just an idea for a scrapbook page, it’s an idea for enjoying yourself more. And what’s the point if you’re not able to enjoy your very own everyday?

Everyday 12×12 Layout by Ginger John using the Rubies and Sapphires Kit (Little Black Dress November Kit):

And never forget the closeups!

I LOVE YOU EVERY DAY of the week. :) Such a fantastic sentiment for us all to remember. And what better way to remember it than to make a page commemorating the sentiment?

Don’t you just love the mix of alphas and handwritten journaling? We do! And never overlook the gorgeous effect created by layering with a variety of trims: lace, pom poms, etc. Yum! Ginger, we can see that you adore those kiddies of yours. But we just have to say…you are ADORED as well! We love your stuff! Thanks for sharing.

The day our hearts fell…my first thought upon reading this layout title was that this was a love story, but that’s not the case. I love this scrapbook layout from LBD Designer Leslie Ashe because it shows us that scrapbooking is all about the “big” moments and they’re not all yummy and warm and fuzzy and feel good. Sometimes they’re just big. And those “big” moments that you might not feel comfortable talking about right away are some of the most important moments to remember. Do you have any that you’ve been avoiding that you’re ready to put down on paper?

Here’s one of Leslie’s BIG moments. We’re so glad she shared it with us!

Leslie put together The Day Our Hearts Fell 12×12 Layout using the September Kit, Authentic Beauty, from the Little Black Dress Kit Club:

The overall look of this page is so perfect. I love the color combinations. I love the simplicity of the photo. I love the use of basic shapes (hearts and circles in contrast to the basic square). But my favorite is using the photo as a pocket. I LOVE that kind of addition to a page. I think it adds so much character and it’s an added bonus that it’s functional. :)
Check out the closeup of the photo/pocket. It can be the place to slide in momentos, journaling…you name it.
Here you can see that the layout has some dimensional aspects. You can also see the alphas up close as well as the use of various patterned pages from the kit to add more detail. Love the button additions, too!
Here you can see a close up of the story. I fully believe in “writing it down” and I think that sometimes a story calls for handwritten journaling no matter if you love your handwriting or not.
This is a view of the pull outs from the photo/pocket. I love that Leslie shared this with us and I have to say that he’s adorable! What a fantastic photo.

Awh. I love seeing how much my kids have changed from year to year. And…DANG IT! I hate seeing how much my kids have changed from year to year. But I do put my love/hate relationship aside when it comes to scrapping the little ones. You have to document these things no matter how badly you want to stop time and keep them teeny tiny for as long as possible. Each brings another birthday and in between each and every birthday a lot of changes are going to crop up. It’s just the natural order of things. So I applaud Francine’s way of dealing with it. She obviously has a love relationship with the passing of time that I should learn to emulate asap. I’ll be working on it. For now…check out this adorable 12×12 layout documenting the changes that have taken place in this little one’s life:

Francine’s Grow 12×12 Layout:

I have to say it again…awh. Such a sweetie! Francine’s layouts always get me. Check out the different elements that Francine used in this layout. She’s got the fantastic background ledger page (from the August Shades of Blue kit, of course) and the teeny Glitz Alphas, the Grow bingo card from Jenni Bowlin, etc. I love how she uses little pieces to make them look entirely different than they look as a whole. It’s amazing.

Check out the closeup for more scrapbook ideas and to see all the embellishments, trims and fun extras that are included in the Little Black Dress Kit Club monthly kits:

Love the button with twine that she added to top off all that layering. And love all the teeny words as well as her handwritten additions to the layout.

And one more closeup. Don’t skip them…they’ll often give you the best ideas for your own projects!

Everybody hates the good sister, right? Or is it that everybody loves the good sister? Or wait! Isn’t it that everyone loves to hate her? Or hates to love her? Or loves to pretend to hate her? Regardless…we’ve all got one. Or we ARE one. And that leads to another tough question. Is it better to be a good sister or to have a good sister. That will require some thought. And while you’re thinking, check out Tina’s scrapalicious 12×12 layout of The Good Sister:

Tina used her I Feel Pretty July Kit from Little Black Dress Kit Club to advantage here. Don’t you just love teh combo of yellow and blue with splashes of pink. I adore that blue isn’t just for boys anymore and that yellow doesn’t have to come as a pastel.

The fabulous and American Craft Letterman Thickers are in a terrific shade of yellow. They are a great accent that brings boldness to the combination of soft colors on the page. I’ve actually been searching for a belt or a pair of heels in just exactly that color for weeks (maybe I should get both heels and a belt…I’ll think on it). It’s both lovely and dramatic without stealing the thunder of the rest of the page.

Ahhh…a pleated banner. She did such a lovely job and I love it all the more because the stitching not only holds the banner to the tip top of the layering, but she used a white that shows the pattern clearly against the colored papers from the kit.

Here you can see the banner from another angle as well as how she incorporated a bit of the vintage book page, yellow buttons, some journaling pieces, and the pink/white twine – all from the July kit. And if you look there to the left…you can get a glance at a Good Sister!

So…determine who the Good Sister is  in your life and follow Tina’s example. She deserves a page about all that goodness!
