Baby Blues 12x12 Layout: April's Vintage Sunshine Kit Project Idea
The Baby Blues 12×12 layout starts with a full sheet of Graphic 45′s Child’s Play. The newsprint side will show as the background for your layout. Next cut an 8″x8″ square of Sassafras Lass Secret Garden paper. Ink the edges black. Place your first 4×6 print in the top left corner of your Sassafras Lass Secret Garden 8″ square.
Ink the edges of one of your October Afternoon Report Card Wild Cards. Set it aside. Next take your second 4×6 print and trim it to approx. 4″x4″. Back it with more of the Sassafras Lass Secret Garden paper, but so that the back, striped side shows for 1/4″ along the edges of your picture.
Take the picture you’ve just backed and the October Afternoon Report Card Wild Card you inked and you are going to place the picture in the bottom right corner of your 8″ square. The Report Card Wild Card from October Afternoon will layer underneath the left side of your picture. At the top left corner of your Wild Card you will tuck your circle of yellow tulle. Fold it in half several times until you have a triangle of several layers of tulle and you tuck it under the corner of your October Afternoon card and glue it securely.
Cut a 4″ strip of corrugated cardboard and place it along the left edge of the Secret Garden square where the first 4×6 photo was placed originally. You’ll staple the corrugated cardboard behind the Secret Garden paper so that it sticks out 1/4″. Ink the edge of the corrugated cardboard with your favorite inking tool in black.
Use your Prima yellow alpha stickers to spell Baby on a piece of corrugated cardboard and then trim it to frame the alphas. Use two small pieces of corrugated cardboard in the place of “pop dots” in order to allow you to glue the corrugated cardboard piece with the word “baby” on it to your layout and give it some depth. You’ll place it centered on the top of the October Afternoon card with just a bit of the card showing at the top.
Next take your Jenni Bowlin Bingo Card and cut out alphas to spell out “BLUES” underneath “baby.” You’ll use your corrugated cardboard again to make the letters pop off the page and add depth to your layout.
Next cut a strip of corrugated cardboard (8″x2″ worked for us). This will go alongside your Secret Garden 8″ square for journaling.
Glue your Secret Garden 8″ square onto the full sheet of Graphic 45 Child’s Play (newsprint side up). Place it approximately 1/2″ from the left side of the paper and 2″ down from the top. Glue your journaling strip made of corrugated cardboard along the right hand side.
Take your Pink Paislee rubons and add some Polka Dot line borders along the edges of your pics and layers randomly. We did a little bit at the very top right edge of the Secret Garden square, along the right hand side of the bottom picture, and along the edges of the bottom left corner of the Secret Garden square. Last you ink the edges of the full page with a black inking tool or stamp pad. And you’re all set. Don’t forget to actually add your journaling!
