Hold your horses…the holidays are a busy time of year and we know you’re ready to get moving on holiday projects so you can get them successfully completed and then sit back and enjoy the roaring fire and possibly…if you’re feeling up to it…roast chestnuts at a dinner party while wearing your fanciest little black dress and your favorite teal heels. Or is that just me?

Regardless…we know you’ll want to see what Jan just sent in. Here’s the first look at a finished project using December’s Sincerely Fond Kit. Is your’s in the mail? If not…you better get a move on. They probably won’t last long. :)

This is Jan’s 12×12 Happy Birthday Layout. I LOVE it!

You can’t really tell by the photo, but she raised some of the letters and different squares of paper with pop-dots so that the layout is more dimensional.  The layout is of Jan’s oldest son, Reece. Isn’t he a cutie? There’s just something about birthdays, isn’t there?

I love that there’s the main photo in the center that draws the eye and the smaller photo incorporated along with the various paper squares, etc. So clever! And I love clever people. Jan…you’re definitely on my clever list. :)

Can’t wait to see more…and I’m sure the rest of you feel exactly the same way! Check back soon.

I absolutely adore this12x12  layout Jan sent in titled I Can Be a Witch. I think I mostly adore it because…can’t we all? Be a witch, that is.

Have you ever been trying on witch costumes with your sister in preparation for Halloween and realized mid-way through that you were actually reflecting the essence of your outfit too truly? Well…it happens to the best of us. But in this case…it wasn’t the outfit making its mark. It was the fact that this sister had not yet had her morning coffee. Which, again, DOES happen. So we should all be on the lookout for tell tale signs before the WITCH gets too in control of the situation.

To document this lovely (warts and all) event, Jan together this awesome layout. You’ll notice her use of a variety of the October kit papers, vintage number and time cards, Jenni Bowlin chalkboard alpha tiles in yellow, a selection of trims from the kit, the glittery black Thickers and some terrific die cuts. See if you can find them all: a witch on a broom, a cauldron, a moon, stars, and a fence. You’ll also probably notice that Jan added a bit of vintage ephemera to the grouping of die cuts and it adds just the right touch.

Thanks Jan! You’ve got me in the mood to get my WITCH on!

Ready for another September Kit project idea? Check out this 12×12 layout by Ginger John. It’s called Don’t Take Life Too Seriously.

Some of the favorite pieces included in this layout? We love the addition of tulle to give the layered flowers a fun look plus a fantastic splash of color. Also notice the October Afternoon cream color alphas and the rhinestones and the vintage Monopoly game card…these were all in the vintage pieces packet in the September Sweet Elegance kit. The Cosmo Cricket alphas provide a bit of journaling/titling while serving as a semi-border at the top of the photo.

The journaling was completed by hand in combination with black Dymo labeling strips.

Here’s a closeup of the flower layering on the bottom left corner of the Don’t Take Life Too Seriously 12×12 Layout by Ginger. The pink ric rac is one of the “sweet” elements of the Sweet Elegance September kit.

Feel free to gather ideas…that’s what these project posts are all about!

I can remember when I was a kid and I’d work so hard to get the swing going and then all the work was worth it when I hit that perfect point where I felt like the swing unnecessary. I was just floating. A little higher and the swing would jerk and pull me back to earth. A little lower and it was work again. This layout by Amy Heller frames that moment perfectly!

The 12×12 layout is called Skyward Bound:

Closeup of the kite detail. I LOVE how intricate Amy made these kits with the paper and some twine combining perfectly. And the clouds are the perfect extra touch!

What a fantastic set of photos! Tire swings, porch swings, playground swings…they’re such a fantastic photo accessory, aren’t they?

Amy layered paper and trims from September’s Sweet Elegance kit to create this look. And she finished it off with a zig zag stitch. lovely and practical…gotta love that!

We’ll keep you posted with a lot more September projects. You won’t want to miss the rest. But we’ll give you some time to study Skyward Bound…enjoy!
