May Kit Project Ideas

Are you still on the lookout for more ideas? Of course you are! We all are. That’s why you’re reading this blog right now. Don’t worry…there will be more project ideas to follow. We’re not going to hold out on you. Get out your favorite scissors, your best adhesive, your stapler, and your handy dandy stamp pads and get ready for some fun. Check out the project below and then check back soon for more!

Here’s a project idea that Cathleen put together using the Little Black Dress Kit Club August Kit. We like to call the kit Homespun Sunshine. But you’re welcome to call it whatever you want…fabulous, lovely, the best…you know, whatever.

Cathleen put together a Birthday card and it’s the perfect example of what to do when you feel like making something but you don’t need any more home decor, and your pictures are all scrapped. There’s always a shortage of greeting cards. So when you need a quick, satisfying project now you know what to turn to…the greeting card is a classic project for a reason. I like to make fabulous sets of greeting cards and keep them on hand and when I’m really overstocked I give them away as “no reason at all” gifts to my friends. It always makes them smile. And it always makes me smile when I get one of my own greeting cards back from one of them.

We’ve got all sorts of fabulous “schtuff” coming in from designers…but before we get into all the awesome new June projects we need to dedicate to a blog post to our first new addition to the LBD Design Team: May Flaum. She sent in some utterly fabulous layouts and projects using May’s Pretty in Pink Kit! Check it out:

Thanks May! We loved it. And now we have one more item to add to the list of ”Things to do with corrugated cardboard!” They make excellent pockets. I can’t believe that is being added to the list after the fact! It’s perfect. :)

Look forward to what May comes up with for June…we are!

As we turn to Heidi Swapp’s XOXO Thank You card  I thought I’d jump in with a big THANKS for Heidi Swapp. We love what she did with the Pretty in Pink May kit. Thanks Heidi! And we hope all of you find her additions inspiring! We sure do!

Here are some fantastic shots of her XOXO Thank You card:

Heidi Swapp's XOXO Thank You card...another perspective!

Notice the Pink Paislee Artisan Tape in Licorice. I think Heidi might have loved working with it as much as we do. It’s absolutely fun! If you haven’t tried it yet…you’re missing out!

Heidi Swapp's XOXO Thank You Card...I bet you want one!

I love how detailed this card is. It’s got so much to look at! It’s definitely one of those cards that is a gift in and of itself.

And here’s the inside of the card. I absolutely love how she incorporates cutouts of the birdcages on the front and then backs it up with the full paper on the interior of the card. And the tiny bit of Licorice Artisan Tape by Pink Paislee is just the perfect little addition; gives it a bit of whimsy and shabby at the same time. Notice the Glitz Design Teeny Alphas. They are amazingly versatile. Don’t forget to take advantage of how easily they can be incorporated into the final look of your layout, card or other project!

Heidi Swapp’s Altered Art standing photo album (I dubbed it the Adore U album for obvious reasons that I’m not going to spell out for you) was absolutely and utterly (made up, I know) AMAZING! But that’s not the only thing she came up with using the Pretty in Pink kit. Wait until you see the rest:

Again…Heidi is apparently the master, no, the guru of layering. I love the look that she creates with the different textures and levels. And I have to point it out even though it’s obvious…doesn’t making gorgeous flowers just MAKE a page? Love the look of the hot pink lace turned flower. It’s beautiful!

I think the journaling on this page is perfect! It is so thoroughly incorporated into the theme of the page that it just seems natural. I love when it works out that way. And I love how Heidi used so many different vintage pieces from the Pretty in Pink kit to make each of her projects look unique and utterly yummy.

That’s not all! Watch for more to come…

Yes…Heidi Swapp played with Little Black Dress Kit Club’s Pretty in Pink kit! And it looks like she had a fabulous time. Check out some of these absolutely amazing projects she put together. She’ll be putting more details on her blog as well, but for now PICTURES! We all love pictures!

Adore U Altered Art Standing Photo Book by Heidi Swapp

I lovingly labeled this project Heidi put together the Adore U altered art standing photo book. It’s absolutely amazing. I’ll put several pics to follow so you can get the full affect. I love what she did with the hot pink lace trim. It makes a gorgeous flower. And I have to say…she’s surpassed anything I’ve ever seen when it comes to layering. I am amazed. That’s not layering; that’s creating an entirely new product out of several different items. I love it!

And I have to point out something that may make some of us a little depressed. Her handwriting is amazing. We can include a lot of things in our fun and fabulous Little Black Dress monthly kits, but one thing we can’t help you out with it your handwriting. That is either an inherent trait that a lucky few are born with or a product of lots and lots of practice. Either way…that’s on you. Little Black Dress can’t help you out with that one. But we can take note of fabulous handwriting when we see it. :) And THAT’S more than fabulous!

This particular Mother’s Day gift had to be a great hit. I know that I would absolutely adore receiving such a beautiful compilation of fun and fancy and memory. I’ve never before made a standing photo album (made to sit like a frame on a countertop or table, but providing the fun of flipping like a mini album). But after seeing this one that Heidi Swapp put together…I just might have a new fettish!

Adore U altered art by Heidi Swapp...one last look!

One last look at the altered art standing photo album that Heidi Swapp put together using the Little Black Dress Pretty in Pink kit. Because it’s so amazing that it’s going to deserve a few last looks…I just thought I’d help you out by putting an extra one in here right away. No clicking required!

Check Heidi’s blog…she should have pics up and possibly some yummy details for you on her process in the next few days:  http://heidiswapp.typepad.com/
