February Patterns of Class Project Ideas

Jan Hobbins sent in 12×12 layouts and the butterfly bouquet using her February Patterns of Class kit. And they were absolutely amazing, but we wanted to remind everyone that sometimes all you need is a nice card. And this one is lovely!

Whether it’s a Happy Birthday card like this one that Jan painstakingly designed and put together in intricate detail or a quick Hi card to make a friend smile. Don’t forget how handy it is to have great cards on hand that can show someone you were thinking of them.

Francine’s Your New Table 12×12 layout:

Aww…Love the central location of that title. Francine used the K& Co Woodgrain alphas. Parentheses are always a fun accent, aren’t they? I love how Francine usees the paper on the right edge of the photos to create an additional block that ties the two 4×6 photos together. And the birds are just too fun! You’ll also notice that she used the Studio Calico birdie rubons on the right edge of teh central block and the yellow/white trim under the title.

Journaling, journaling, journaling…it’s so important. I love that Francine seems to know that!

Ahh, the beautiful music created by our children. It has to be documented, right? Whether it’s the banging of spoons on pots and pans or the incessant banging of the piano keys or their first (slightly screechy) strings concert in elementary school…it’s music to our ears.

And what better way to commemorate our little one’s love of music than with a layout with visual and written documentation of the event?

Francine’s Music Maker 12×12 layout does the trick :

I love the details that Francine always adds. She can make paper do ANYTHING! Love stitching, the line of circles along the bottom of the title and the creation of her own xylophone lookalike at the edge of the title.

And, of course, you can’t forget your journaling!

Several of our designers find themselves in this situation, but they’re not letting it get them down. If you are desperate for some Spring in your life…give it a try. Here are some quick “how to” instructions from Jan:

For the bouquet, I cut out the butterflies from the GCD studios paper and punched out a few more small ones. I then used my hot glue gun and glued thin gold wire to the backs.  For the box, I used an old tea box and covered it, glued the ribbon and felt flower on.

Here’s Amy’s U Color My World 12×12 Layout:

Love the mass of circle at the top stitched on in a semi-color coded mix. It reminds me of a rainbow. Other elements Amy used on the page include: layering of scalloped edging, Studio Calico Vintage notions flower, Glitz Design Turquoise pom poms, GCD Studios butterfly paper cutouts, K & Co wood grain alphas, etc.

She used a little mist, a couple pieces of “bling” and then you’ll notice the grid “paper” in a couple spots – that is actually from the packaging of the studio calico tissue flowers. Amy LOVES the Studio Calico packaging – perfect for journaling spots or to use as a background paper.

Amy went ahead and zig zag stitched the butterfly to the page down the center line. That way she could give it a 3D look by folding up the edge.

In this last closeup you get to see the fun, wavy stitchy that holds the rainbow-esque mass of circles onto the page up top. So fun!
