Devious Darling December 2011 Kit Ideas

Valerie’s Easter 12×12 layout using the Devious Darling kit in December 2011 made me want to whip out my old Easter photos and get with it. I love the frame look of the layout that gives the presentation of the photos such a classic yet eye catching appeal.

The vintage look of this page really appeals to me. I love me some antiques. And I love me some vintage decor. And I absolutely adore paper that presents it to me in one sweet little package. So I really appreciate the effort that Valerie went to in her scrapbooking to stay true to the vintage look of the elements. It turned out wonderfully! It’s a great example of what you can do with the vintage miscellaneous elements in the Little Black Dress Kit Club kits.

What a great shot of this layout. It gives you such a great perspective of the varying dimensions and textures. This has to be one of my favorites of the layouts created using the Devious Darling scrapbook kit this month. What are some of my favorite parts? I love the use of the yellow ribbon as a banner under the photos/background for the flower. I love the way the banner design is reflected again behind the photos with the edges coming out on the sides. I love the vintage look papers combined with the actually vintage papers. I love the limited, but gorgeous use of embellishments on the page and the buttons are the perfect finishing touch.

Dum dum. Whenever I hear that phrase I think of the hit movie, Night at the Museum. That massive statue that continually called Ben Stiller a Dum Dum was absolutely hilarious to me. (I’m a child at heart, what can I say?) BUT…I’ll have something new to associate the phrase with from now on because this month, Valerie is gracing the LBD kit club design team with a fabulous 12×12 layout entitled…that’s right…Dum Dum.

The Dum Dum 12×12 layout by Valerie, December 2011 Kit from Little Black Dress Kit Club – Devious Darling

That black striped paper from the Devious Darling kit makes a fabulous bookmark banner. I love the typed quote. I love handwritten journaling, too, but sometimes typed quotes and data are simply called for when you’re finishing off a layout. My favorite part of this layout is actually the array of photos. I love how attached this little guy is to the Dum Dum lollipop. The series of circle cut shots are fabulous and I love that they’re aligned there on the black/white striped section.

Gotta love a good closeup. This 12×12 layout has a great combination of colors.

What sort of treats or food have made it into your scrapbooking?

Sometimes you have to just jump into a project feet first. You have to ignore the fact that you don’t feel like doing it because that’s often when you need to do it the most! If you need to get yourself moving by checking out someone else’s ideas for inspiration, we always recommend Tina’s work. She’s one of the LBD Kit Club Designers that always has something new and simply fun up her sleeve.

Here’s Tina Walker’s Jump 12×12 Layout using the Devious Darling Kit from Little Black Dress Kit Club. This was the monthly scrapbook kit that went out to members in December 2011.

Oooh. I just love the buttons with the added stitching that makes them look like they’re hanging from string. I love the stitched in brackets and I love the bow over the top of the entire layered portion of the layout.

I know, I know, you need a closeup! I do, too. Check out the stitching, the layering, the varying sizes of the layered elements and the white painted background. What a great combination.

Tina always comes through. This layout made me want to go out and get a photo of my little people jumping in puddles. (Alright, alright…it also made me want to go out and do some puddle jumping of my own, but that’s alright! That just means it’s totally inspiring). Tina’s done her job.

Kim Watson is back! Kim Watson is back! You DON’T KNOW HER? Oh my word! You have been deprived. You have not lived. You MUST check out her scrapbook projects immediately. We lOvE LOvE LOVE her…and her projects. She stepped up to guest design for us again this month and we just know you’re going to be drooling over some of her gorgeous projects. Check it out!

First, the Snow 12×12 layout by Kim Watson
I love the spot of yellow and the stitching. I love that there are snowflakes dispersed randomly as if it’s snowing on the page. I love the way Kim accentuated her journaling with stitched on paper under her lines of writing. I love the varying sizes of her pictures and the fun placement of all the elements on the page. And I love the way Kim used the different colors and patterns of the papers from the December Kit to really make various focal points show strongly on the layout.
Look how fun all the little details are. Never ignore all the little vintage elements that come with your scrapbook kit. Even the teensiest scrap can add some fun to your page. For instance, check out the tiny circle of vintage book page that Kim added on amongst the randomly smattering of buttons. So cute.
Next we have Kim’s You 12×12 Layout:
I think my favorite thing about this page is the groupings of circles that seem all the more important because of their placement on the very angular background, the angular placement of the photos and the stitching that reflect the rectangular shapes of the larger whole. Gorgeous paper flowers, too.
Luckily, Kim knew we’d love her paper flowers so she gave us a closeup shot!
Next we have Kim’s Wonder 12×12 layout:
Here you’ll see one of the transparent frames from the kit used as an actual frame around the photo. You’ll also notice the fun banner, the small spot of black “spots”, the beautiful yellow banner, the added quote from Roald Dahl, the pocket she added under the purple butterfly’s wing and the negative space focal point she added with the circular punched teal page. What a great layout!
We love Kim! And we’re positive you now do, too. And we just know she’d be even more fun in person. So here’s a quick look at Kim so that you’ll recognize her if you see her on the street. And if you do…make sure to tell her you saw her here on Little Black Dress and that you loved her layouts!
We had do much fun working with you again, Kim! Hope you had a fabulous 2011 and that 2012 is even better.

You are so devious, darling! You’ve been sneaking around doing all sorts of good deeds for others this holiday season. You’re finding the perfect gift for all your loved ones. You’re making cookies for people you don’t know and sometimes for people you don’t even like. You’ve been searching or random acts of kindness that could brighten someone’s day. Stop everything! It’s time for a break. Take a moment and put together a project that is just for you. Here’s some inspiration from LBD Kit Club Designer, Tina.

The Winds of Change 12×12 Layout by Tina

First off, what an amazing photo. It’s gorgeous. Secondly, WOW, Tina! When you go about inspiring the masses…you really inspire the masses. What do we love? It’s hard to point out a few when the entire combination is so gorgeous. We love the stitches over the letters. We love the big/small alpha combo. We love the cut out of the yellow paper behind the teal letters. We love the casually torn and added strings of birds under the photo. We love the butterflies. What’s our favorite? The LAYERING, baby. This layout is all about the layering. And Tina went all out in pulling out bits and pieces from her December Devious Darling scrapbook kit to put together a fantastic combination of contrasting yet complimentary elements.

Thanks so much for sharing your take on the Winds of Change with us, Tina. We truly appreciate all your hard work and look forward for more projects to come!
