Flowers For You 12×12 Layout by Kim Stewart

Flowers may not have always meant that you were loved, but I can’t remember a time when that’s not what it made me feel. There’s just something about hearing that there are “flowers for you” that makes your heart skip a little faster, not out of distress or panic, but because in the world of the fairy tale, the heart ran on love. While there aren’t any “fresh” flowers used on this scrapbook layout from Little Black Dress Kit Club design team member, Kim Stewart’s, she somehow managed to infuse the final 12×12 layout with life using her June 2012 scrapbook kit: Work Less Play More. It truly brings that feeling to life for you when you look at it…so, here are some flowers for you!

Flowers for You 12×12 Layout by Kim Stewart:

One aspect of this page that I can’t stop adoring is her combination of whimsy and order. I love it. I don’t think anyone would deny that the combination of colors, photo shape and placement, title, pattern combinations and embellishment choices and placement create an extremely lovely and whimsical page, but at the same time, you have order with a central focal point when considering the block of photos/papers as a whole, an obvious central theme for the scrapbook page, balanced placement, and the classic white 12×12 background page to really allow the variety of colors in the middle to pop out and grab all the attention for the black and white photos.

Details from Kim:

Flowers for you 12×12 layout -

For this layout I used several layers of patterned papers, crate and basic grey. I added a lot of dimension by layering things below my hand punched stamp square for a framed affect. For the top square I punch half circles all the way around to make it resemble a stamp.  Below it are a few fussy cut flowers, a watercolored card and paintchips. I always like to add something of my own to my layouts for more personality.

Items used, crate paper, basic grey paper, October afternoon 9-5 stickers.

Non kit items paintchips, pink clothespin
