Snap 12x12 Layout by May Flaum, July Kit Project Idea

Snap 12×12 Layout by May Flaum, CLOSEUP

I took this photo testing out a setting on my camera and accidently printed it out. Then when I saw the photo sticker in this month’s kit I knew I had to scrap it! This layout, as the title even suggests, is a snap to make!

Supplies needed:
July LBD kit, mist or paint, adhesive, scissors

Start with the sheet of Kaiser Craft patterned paper as a base. Then use the book page provided in the kit to make a base for your (4×6) photo. I tore mine so that it was about 8 x 8
Place “photo” sticker and lace trim below photo as shown. Use adhesive to tack the lace down, then add three brads to add really keep it in place.
Cut out several gold accents from sheet in kit and place around photo, add in title letters at this time too.
Journal below photo
To complete the page, use some plastic packaging and lay it over the photo portion of page, then squirt a glimmer mist a few times to add splatter to the page.

Tip: You could use acrylic paint if you don’t have any mist – use with a toothpick or paint brush or anything else to get desired effect.

We’ve started to see July projects come in from our designers. It’s always an exciting time of the month for us here at Little Black Dress Kit Club. We love to see what our talented designers come up with. They always put something together that makes us smile because it’s just that amazing. :)

Here are a few sneaks at what you can look forward to hearing about in more detail in future blog posts:

Biker Boy 12x12 layout by Amy Heller

We love the use of the Sassafras journaling stickers on Amy’s Biker boy 12×12 Layout. She also did a fantastic job of incorporating vintage pieces from the kit (vintage game pieces, buttons, etc.) Also prominent on this layout are the American Craft metallic alphas, the Girls’ Paperie Plaid 12×12 paper, Glitz Design vintage stickers, and corrugated cardboard (inventively incorporated as a cool border, of course!)

Bingo 12x12 layout by Ellen S

Ellen’s Bingo 12×12 Layout started with the Girls’ Paperie 12×12 paper. It’s got the fabulous vintage Bingo card from the LBD July kit as well as the metallic alphas made by American Crafts. The July kit put together some great products some a variety of manufacturers. Ellen’s page also sports a fabulous paper flower made of a few different papers included in the kit.

French Coffee Press 12x12 layout by May Flaum

My favorite aspect of May’s French Coffee Press 12×12 layout page is the string of vintage buttons from the Little Black Dress July Kit. She always ends up with such a clean, classy look with just a touch of the whimsy that makes it all fun and personal and unique. She used the Basic Grey navy polka dot as the basis for this great page. Other noticeable accents pulled from the Little Black Dress July kit are the Making Memories gold ephemera and the Sassafras Lass border (they’ve always got fabulous borders at the bottom of their 12×12 scrapbook papers…so handy!)

She recently started playing with pixels as well as paper and glue and is now hooked! Her work has been published in major magazines such as Creating Keepsakes, Simple Scrapbooks, Scrapbook Trends, Cards and Memory Makers. She is the Scrapbooking editor on Craft Gossip, on the Design Team for Banana Frog, the Creative Team for Karla Dudley Designs, is part of the team at Write.Click.Scrapbook, and blogs almost daily at Callaloo Soup .

Here’s some of the fun stuff that Francine put together after receiving the LBD June kit in the mail:

Know This 12x12 Layout by Francine

Love the use of the chocolate brown pom pom trim from the June Kit! And two other favorite mentions on this 12×12 layout are the awesome creation of a subtle double layer border with cream stitching and the paper butterflies that actually appear to be flying right there on the page. Amazing Francine! Love it!

Here’s a closeup look at the paper butterflies that give this classic page such a surprisingly whimsical touch! Francine also used the June kit’s rubon for the title of the page “Know This.”

Good Hair Day 12x12 Layout by Francine

Francine’s Good Hair Day 12×12 Layout inspires almost reverential states here at LBD because of the amazing layering going on! Count the layers..how many do you find? Doesn’t the finished result just give you tons of ideas? I particularly love the pleated paper against the corrugated cardboard; the rough/industrial combined with the preppy pleats just made me smile. Kind of like how a “good hair day” makes you smile, right? And I have to draw your attention (just in case you somehow got distracted and aren’t already staring at it) to the gorgeous flower. We love flowers…who doesn’t? And the only thing that comes close to being as fabulous as fresh flowers are really amazing paper ones that never go brown. :)

Closeup of the layering…mmm…gorgeous!

AND…close up of the flower. Too fun!

Monkey See Monkey Do 12x12 Layout by Francine

Francine’s Monkey See Monkey Do 12×12 Layout! Love her paper combinations (where’d she come with that fabulous arrangement of paper? Oh yah! The LBD June Kit!) :) And I also love her journaling topped off by the great trim arrangement on top and the cute alpha arrangement with title on the bottom. Great layout!

Lego Play 12x12 Layout by Francine

I love layouts that are made based on a “series” of pictures. They’re so fun! And this 12×12 layout by Francine is a great example. Her placement of the pics and the cork alphas even seems to mimic the “stacking” of legos. I particularly appreciate the combo of cork and October Afternoon alphas in the title with the crossword puzzle paper and the vintage number card thrown in to finish it off. Great use of the kit!

Merci Card by Francine

The Merci card by Francine was made using some of the favorites from the LBD June kit: the Webster’s cameo, the chocolate brown pom pom trim, and the mini green sequins. Again…we love the stitching. What a great card project!

Hello Ellen! Welcome to the LBD Design Team! We’re glad to have you.

Ellen put together several projects  using the June kit that we know you’ll all love:

Music to My Soul 12x12 Layout by Ellen S

I love Ellen’s use of stitching to create a subtly fun border/accent. The sequins add just the perfect finishing touch to the entire page and we love that the cut out flowers are allowed to lift off the page on the edges in some spots! It gives it great dimension.

Altered Art: Get A Clue Clipboard by Ellen S

Altered art! It’s such a favorite because it’s always so unique and personal. Everybody has their own take on similar projects. Take this altered clipboard, for example. Ellen’s is different than any I’ve ever seen. It’s fun and it’s whimsical and it’s practical…all at the same time. Those combined qualities make the best projects. :)

Owl Hoo Ray Card using the June Kit from Little Black Dress and Martha Stewart Template, by Ellen S

Ellen used a Martha Stewart template that she thought would work well with the Little Black Dress June kit to put together this Hoo Ray card! It’s adorable. And she was right…the kit products worked perfectly!

Altered Art by Ellen S, Road Trip Goodie Bag!

Another unique altered art project from Ellen! This Road Trip Goodie Bag makes me want to grab an overnight bag and take a spontaneous trip! Great layering, great use of a word strip/quote and my favorite? The layered deco at the top left corner (backed by the yellow lace and topped with a Webster’s cameo). It certainly draws the eye!

The You Two Mini Album by Ellen S, LBD Kit Club Design Team Member

LOVE mini albums! And Ellen’s is yummy. I love the use of the vintage elements from Pink Paislee. I LOVE the use of the corrugated cardboard. and I LOVE the use of trim and layering.

We’ve all been loving the Cork alphas. They are so versatile!

I love that Ellen put together a mini album all about advice. Such a great (and usable) theme.

This insert is one of my favorite pieces of Ellen’s mini album. The cork alphas and small Alpha tiles and rubons all mix together to give it a fantastic look!

I love all of Ellen’s journaling. This is such a fantastic keepsake. It comes off well thought out and at the same time…totally fun to look at! And that’s the point. Otherwise…why scrapbook at all? Right?

Thanks Ellen!
